media & game development -- project(s)

Some typical examples of multimedia applications in the information and communications industry are promotional games, product demos in E-shops and online (multimedia) tutorials. There is a rich variety of research topics connected with the effective utilization of multimedia, covering issues like authoring, information retrieval, human-computer interaction, software architecture, networking and 3D graphics.

Characteristic for research in multimedia is an explorative approach, addressing design as well as development issues. Examples of topics you may work on include (serious) games, interactive video applications and rich media web mashups.

For information on projects, see: www.cs.vu.nl/~eliens/projects

Proposals for projects, both short and long, should be written in a way indicated in format(s). It is possible to do multiple short projects, see studyguide. Do not forget to register your project(s), long or short!

For supervision there is no fixed time-schedule. Meetings will be arranged, usually initiated by the student(s), on a by-need basis.

For additional information on external projects, consult stagebureau @ VU.
