Software Maintenance and Reengineering
“Software Evolution in Complex Software Intensive Systems”
March 21-23, 2007
Amsterdam, the Netherlands

The European Conference on Software Maintenance and Reengineering (CSMR), the premier European conference on the theory and practice of maintenance, reengineering and evolution of software systems, promotes discussion and interaction among researchers and practitioners about the development of maintainable systems, and the evolution, migration and reengineering of existing ones.

The Doctoral Symposium track is for those who are currently working on or who have recently completed (i.e., since 1st October 2005) their PhD thesis. The track offers you an a opportunity to present your research problem, your solution direction, the results you have obtained thus far, and your plans for the remainder of your PhD track. You will be able to discuss your PhD plans with fellow PhD students, as well as with participants of the CSMR conference who are active in the area of software maintenance and reengineering.

You are requested to prepare a 4 page summary of your PhD project. This will appear in the CSMR proceedings, and should conform to the IEEE publication guidelines. Your summary should include the technical problem to be solved explaining its importance; a survey of related work explaining what issues are still open; the research hypothesis or questions; a sketch of the proposed solution; the expected contributions of your PhD research; results you have booked so far; the methods you use to conduct your research; and a plan for evaluating your work and presenting evidence of the validity of your results.

Send your four page research summary as a pdf to the Doctoral Symposium Chair: Arie van Deursen (Arie DOT van DOT Deursen AT cwi DOT nl), using "csmr-doctoral" in the subject. PhD students will present their accepted summaries in the special Doctoral Symposium session part of the main conference.
