DAS is a wide-area distributed computer of 200 Pentium Pro nodes, distributed over four Dutch universities.

Notice: DAS-1 is no longer active. It has been succeeded by the DAS-2 and DAS-3 systems.

About the name DAS

DAS is a wide-area distributed computer of 200 Pentium Pro nodes. The machine is built out of clusters of workstations, located at four Dutch Universities:

The University of Utrecht also participates.

The clusters are interconnected by ATM links for wide-area communication, whereas Myrinet, a popular Gigabit LAN, is used for local communication.
