Jaap Gordijn appointed to Professor Service Science and Innovation

On the 1st of June 2009, the board of directors has appointed Jaap Gordijn to professor Service Science and Innovation (SSI) at the department of Computer Science.

Gordijn will be working on the multidisciplinary research field of e-business. Gordijn is specialized in innovative forms of e-business and is working on requirements engineering for e-business solutions. He is known for the e3-value method, which he developed together with Hans Akkermans. This modeling method is used for integrating strategic decisions for e-business with ICT system requirements and development. He is working at the Network Institute on EU funded projects, such as the Obelix and FENIX project.

Gordijn will be working on the multidisciplinary research field of e-business. The way companies design, develop and control their (e-) services is an important topic here. One example is the triple play principle; consumers may have a subscription, which provides internet, phone and TV. These three services can be provided by different suppliers, but they are combined into one package. For this to work properly, it has to fit together on technical, business/economic and social levels. The integration of these kinds of applications is a complex process. These processes are used more and more, especially with the growing possibilities that the internet provides for us.
