Second place for VU team in international hackerscompetition
A team from the VU, consisting of Victor van der Veen and Kasper Toth, achieved the second place in the international 'Capture The Flag' hackers competition in Amsterdam
The two-day competition was part of the 'Hack-in-the-box' conference, 19 & 20 May in hotel Krasnapolsky in Amsterdam. The participating teams were very strong this year. An experienced French team won this year - they had already won several other tournaments. The VU students finished second, beating the US Army team, which ended on a third place. As a rewards for their achievement, the 'silver medal' VU team is invited for the Capture the Flag competition in Kuala Lumpur in 2012.
Places 4, 5 and 6 were also VU teams. Like most other Computer Science students from the VU, Victor and Kasper followed the course of 'Computer and Network Security' from Herbert Bos and Lorenzo Cavallaro;
"We are very proud of these results - it demonstrates the high qualty of our students and our courses."
