Herbert Bos appointed as full Professor

As of 1 February 2012, Dr. Herbert Bos, member of the Computer Systems group of the Department of Computer Science, has been appointed as full professor. His appointment addresses the field of "Systems and Network Security," which essentially encompasses securing networked computer systems by generally seeking solutions that are closely tied to operating systems and their networking components.

Herbert Bos was recently awarded an ERC starting grant, and as such is one of the few computer scientists who have managed to obtain this prestigious grant. His research is widely recognized as belonging to the top in his field, reflected by an impressive list of publications and successful careers of his PhD students. Besides in his research, Herbert as also shown to excel in teaching and belongs to the best lecturers in the department, which is backed up by exceptional student evaluations of his courses.
