Miscellaneous
This page contains various links to Globe material that is maintained at other
places. We love to hear about people getting involved!
The Globe wide-area latency database
This is a subproject that we recently started. Gerco Ballintijn initiated it
and is currently maintaining some stuff. You can find more
here.
Globule
Globule is essentially
building Globe distributed Web documents using existing technology, notably
the Apache servers. Guillaume Pierre is the guy to blame when things don't
work. He's also the one you should pat on the back for doing this fine piece
of work.
Copy-to-PC (cp2pc)
In the cp2pc project we are
looking at how we can integrate various peer-to-peer systems by means of a
single client-side interface. We would like to see as many people get involved
as possible: let's build our huge, free peer-to-peer experimental platform!
SIRS/GDN
This is one of our Globe application projects, mainly lead by Arno Bakker.
GDN (or SIRS as it is also called) is a Globe-based system for worldwide
distribution of free software. Check it out, and above all: participate!
Mansion
How do you combine the dumb, passive objects in Globe with intelligent, active
agents? You can find out how in the Mansion project.
Adaptive large-scale replication
A whole new subproject that is yet to launched. It's all about finding the
best places for your replicas, and the best way to keep them consistent. This
work is strongly coupled to Globule, so check out those pages if you're
interested.
Newscasting
Something new: dynamically building extremely large networks of agents by
using a simple epidemic protocol. Experiments on our DAS-2 system shows that
we can build networks of 128,000 agents where each agent needs to know only
20-30 neighbors without the network falling apart. More info can be found
here.
