My areas of research are Artificial Intelligence and Multimedia. My main interests are: logical foundation of the Semantic Web, intelligent multimedia technology, formal theories of intelligent agents, and their implementation, applied logics for decision support systems, and reasoning about actions.

I am interested in the philosophy of mind, too.

Current Projects

  • LarKC: The EU FP 7 Large-Scale Integrating Project LarKC is to develop the Large Knowledge Collider, a platform for massive distributed incomplete reasoning that will remove the scalability barriers of currently existing reasoning systems for the Semantic Web.

  • Chinese WordNet: an international cooperation project with SouthEast University of China. This project investigates the development of Chinese WordNet.

    Recent Projects

  • OpenKnowledge: OpenKnowledge is a project on peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and semantics-related interaction.

  • KnowledgeWeb: a 4 year Network of Excellence project in the Semantic Web and Ontology Engineering, funded by the European Commission 6th Framework Programme

  • SEKT: Semantically-Enabled Knowledge Technologies, funded by the European Commission 6th Framework Programme.

  • E-Culture: A project investigating multimedia access to distributed collections of cultural heritage objects with the Semantic Web Technolgy.

  • I2RP: A project of intelligent retrieval and presentation of informatiion in public historical multimedia databases.

  • STEP: A scripting language for embodied agents.

  • WASP: A project developing intelligent web agents.

  • RIF: A project investigating virtual environments and virtual communities.

  • BOID: A project investigating agent architecture.

  • Ratio. A project developing a logical theory of practical rationality for resource-bounded agents, which was done in Computer Science Department, Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London.

  • RED . A project concerned with various aspects of safety and liability in decision support systems, which was done in Computer Science Department, Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London.

  • Dynamo. A project investigating the model-building implementation of pragmatic (nonmonotonic) reasoning, which was done in Computer Science Department, Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London.

  • Action Logics. A project developing formal logics for agents with bounded rationality, which was done in Applied Logic Lab, University of Amsterdam.
