Chatterbots
Because there are nowadays lots of chatterbots on the internet, I had to make a selection. Lists full of other chatterbots can be found in the 'link collection' sites below.

Top chatterbots
The listing has been based on the chatterbox challenge and the Loebner Price 2003 results, complemented with my own view.
1. Elbot

From the chatterbox challenge: "Elbot is a sarcastic robot who may be more human than he thinks. His purpose is to entertain and amuse while showing what Lingubots can do. Elbot has a few special robotic themes, but also takes on the challenging task of being conversant on just about everything. "
He won the 2003 Chatterbox challenge.

2. Talk-bot Retrieved from a UFO crash in January 2001 the injuries sustained in the accident leaves this ever more knowledgeable chatterbot is unsure whether he is a robot or a human.

3. Yabberwacky
A completely insane chatterbot described by its author as 'weird'. It is teachable, silly, quick-witted, pedantic and generally an all-round smart-ass from Rollo Carpenter.
>> Info from chatterbox challenge
4. Eugene His home-site calls him the weirdest creature in the world, but I think Eugene is, at least for a chatterbot, quite normal. He's quite good, but not very exciting.
>> Info from chatterbox challenge
5. Alice A project that attempts to transfer the contents of a mind into computers and create Chatterbots of themselves. In this case, it is the 'mind' of Professor Richard S. Wallace.
>> Info from the chatterbox challenge
6. Alan Home chatterbot of the A-I research program, this bot wasn't designed to win the any price, but is actually quite intelligent and nice to talk with. Check out one of the HAL's as well, or better, the whole research project.
7. Yabberwock Understanding more than 20,000 words - and knowing just shy of 1,000,000 sentences - this huge English and German speaking Chatterbot likes riddles. He won the 2003 Loebner price
