| Large-Scale Electronic Messaging |
| |
| Many electronic
messaging systems exist in the
world, often using different
hardware and
software. |
| People connected to
one electronic messaging system
often want to communicate with
people attached to a different
one. |
| This desire requires
connecting together different,
and frequently incompatible
electronic messaging systems
like: E-mail, I-mode, USENET news,
instant messaging systems, and
SMS. |
| |
| Large-scale
electronic messaging
research is rethinking the
messaging model such that
existing systems can be
integrated transparently into a
unifying framework or
unified messaging system. |
| |
| In this research, we
concentrate on the design,
implementation, and validation
of a unified messaging system
that can efficiently handle
worldwide exchange of billions
of messages per day, between
billions of
users. |
| In addition, this
exchange should be secure and
completely under control of
receivers. |
| Users should be able
to controle the receipt of their
messages anytime and
anywhere. |
