New Elsevier AI Lab in Amsterdam underscores impact of academic-industry collaborations to strengthen The Netherlands’ global position in AI

Elsevier, the big science publisher with headquarters in Amsterdam, will invest 1.2m€ in an AI Lab as part of the new Innovation Center for AI. Elsevier's investment will create 5 positions for research in a combination of Knowledge Representation (Frank van Harmelen), Information Retrieval (Maarten de Rijke) en Machine Learning (Max Welling). Frank will co-lead the lab together with Elsevier's Rinke Hoekstra, previously a member of the VU Department.
