Two EU projects awarded for Quantitative Data Analytics group on Machine Learning for Health
In the recent rounds of both the EU H2020 program and EDCTP two proposals in which the Quantitative Data Analytics group of the VU participates have been awarded. The project ICARE4OLD (H2020) will focus on identifying effective treatments for elderly in the EU based on historical data through innovation in machine learning techniques. Hereby, the QDA group will have a special focus on reinforcement learning techniques due to the sequential nature of the treatments. The other project is called Impala monitor (EDCTP), where machine learning techniques will be exploited to signal severe worsening of the health state of children in hospitals in low-and middle income countries using a novel sensory device.
